Goldcar Murcia Airport

Murcia Airport is located approximately 17 miles to the south of Murcia, and is a military airbase as well as a civilian passenger airport. The airport is also known as the San Javier Airport, due to its location in this area, and is found in Spain’s district of Santiago de la Ribera. In 2010, Murcia Airport handled just over 1.3 million passengers, and is therefore one of Spain’s smaller airports, but is nonetheless international, and an important gateway to this region of the country. Public transport from the airport is not frequently available; therefore, passengers arriving at Murcia Airport often rent a car, from car rental companies such as Goldcar. Goldcar is found in the arrivals area of the airport.

Murcia Airport consists of a just a single terminal building, with sections for arriving passengers and an area dedicated to departure flights. The car hire companies are mainly found in the arrivals area of the airport, or in the parking lot. Goldcar’s rental counters can be conveniently found in the arrivals hall, and their hours of operation are from 09:00 to 23:00, seven days a week. Vehicles can be arranged directly from the rental counters, or in advance, from Goldcar’s website at www.goldcar.es. Customers will find plenty of information relating to Goldcar’s services on the website, including their vehicles for hire at Murcia Airport and their rental terms and conditions. Many people consider an online booking to be the most convenient way to arrange a vehicle for holiday or business travel, and lower rental prices may also be offered for customers who book their cars a few weeks prior to their arrival at the airport.

Goldcar is a local provider of car rental services, and is considered to be one of the top car rental companies in Spain. Branches of Goldcar can also be found at many other airports in the country, such as Gran Canaria, Alicante, Seville, Tenerife South and Tenerife North, Palma de Mallorca and Valencia. Customers can therefore arrange a one way hire from Goldcar, which will enable them to return their car to a different rental location. With a one way hire, renters can travel from Murcia Airport across the country, enjoying the attractions along the way, and return home from another airport, without needing to drive back to their starting point. Customer should just keep in mind that an additional charge is often applicable for one way rentals returned to another town or city.

When reserving your vehicle from Goldcar, remember to book any additional items of equipment that will be needed for your journey. In Spain, all occupants of a vehicle are required by law to wear seatbelts, and therefore it is essential to hire a child seat for your younger passengers. Customers who have never been to Spain before, or those who are unfamiliar with the road network surrounding Murcia, may consider hiring a GPS unit from Goldcar. The satellite navigation systems offered by most car hire companies are high quality pieces of technology, able to provide turn-by-turn directions in voice or visual mode, and will display their maps on high resolution, colour touch screens, which are easy to read, even in direct sunlight. A child seat or satellite navigation system will cost a bit extra for each day of rental.

Murcia Airport is fully equipped for disabled passengers, with adapted toilet facilities and pavement ramps, and Goldcar may offer disabled drivers the use of hand controls. Hand controls are ideal for those with a lower limb disability, as they operate the brake and accelerator pedals of a vehicle, but no other functions of the car, such as the lights, blinkers or windshield wipers. At Murcia Airport, hand controls are usually offered free of charge by the car rental companies, but should be booked in advance.

At Goldcar, the primary renter is required to be at least 21 years of age, and to have held a valid drivers license in their country of residence for at least a year prior to the rental date. The primary renter will also need a major credit card in his/her name in order to pay for the period of car hire. Additional drivers can usually be added to the rental agreement, but should meet the same requirements as the primary renter. There could be extra charges for alternative drivers. It is standard procedure at the majority of car hire companies to charge a higher rental rate for younger drivers, between the ages of 21 and 25, for young drivers insurance. This will also apply to additional drivers.

Vehicles hired by Goldcar, at Murcia Airport, are only of the latest models, and are well maintained. The smaller vehicles available may include the Smart For Two, Ford Ka, Fiat Panda, Ford Fiesta, Opel Corsa and Volkswagen Polo, which are all vehicles found in the Economy category. They are also vehicles with air conditioning, a radio or CD player and a manual transmission. Drivers who want to hire an automatic vehicle will find the Ford Focus Aut, Citroen C4 Picasso Aut, Ford Focus Familiar Aut, and the Mercedes Clase C available. Goldcar also hires a range of larger vehicles more suitable for families with luggage to transport, such as the Ford C-Max, Peugeot 5008, Renault Grand Megane and Peugeot 3308 SW, while vans similar to the Mercedes Vito, Volkswagen Transporter and Fiat Scudo are ideal for groups of travellers.

All further details are available on Goldcar’s website, at www.goldcar.es, or customers can contact Goldcar directly, at their Murcia Airport rental location.
