Auto Europe Murcia Airport

Murcia Airport is located approximately 17 miles to the south of Murcia city, in Spain, and is actually found in an area known as San Javier. San Javier is in the district of Santiago de la Ribera, and along the northern shoreline of the Mar Menor. Due to the airport’s location, it is often also referred to as the San Javier Airport. Murcia Airport is one of Spain’s smaller airports, handling just 1.3 million passengers per year, and is mainly served by low-cost airline carriers. The bus services from the airport are not very frequent; therefore many passengers choose to rent a car, from a car rental company at Murcia Airport such as Auto Europe. Auto Europe offers a wide range of vehicles for hire in Spain, and has large number of rental offices in this country, and around the world.

Murcia Airport consists of just a single terminal building, which is divided into arrival and departure areas. There are a few baggage reclaim carousels in the arrival area, along with other useful services, and the departure area consists of 18 check-in counters and five boarding gates. Arriving passengers should have no trouble finding their way about the terminal, as the airport building is not very large or complicated. The car hire companies are conveniently located in the arrivals area, or just outside, at the parking area of the airport. Auto Europe, at Murcia Airport, is open from the early morning to evening, seven days a week, for vehicle reservations and collections. However, customers can also make use of Auto Europe’s website in order to arrange their vehicle, at www.autoeuropa.com.

At the majority of car hire companies at Murcia Airport, the primary renter is required to be at least 23 years of age. Certain car hire companies may have a minimum age requirement of just 21, but all drivers must have a valid drivers license that has been issued for at least a year in their country of residence prior to the rental date. Drivers 25 and younger are considered to be ‘young drivers’, and a slightly higher risk to the rental company, therefore drivers of a younger age will pay a higher rental rate, as young drivers insurance will be applicable to their rental. This is standard procedure at Auto Europe, and at all the major car hire companies. Younger drivers may also not be permitted to hire from certain vehicles categories, usually from those that contain specialty or larger type vehicles.

Auto Europe will accept most drivers’ licenses that are issued within the European Union, provided that they are written in a Roman alphabet. Foreign renters may be required to have an International Driving Permit, as well as their local license. However, even if Auto Europe does not require the renter to have an IDP, this document is required to be carried at all times by foreign drivers, according to Spanish Law. An IDP must be arranged in the home country of the individual, before departure for Murcia Airport. For payment of the rental period, customers will need a major credit card, such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard, MasterCard or Visa, as debit cards and cash are not usually accepted. It is also the responsibility of the primary renter to arrange and to purchase adequate insurance for the rented car. However, insurance can be included in the price quoted by Auto Europe.

Customers should pre-book all additional items of equipment required for their vehicle, such as child seats, satellite navigation systems and hand controls for disabled drivers. Additional items are usually rented for a certain price per day of car hire, but hand controls can be used free of charge. At Murcia Airport, a one way hire should also be requested in advance, and the customer should specify as to where the vehicle will be returned. A one way hire is when the car is collected from Murcia Airport, but then returned to another Auto Europe rental location in Spain. There may be extra charges if the car is returned to another town or city.

Vehicles from Auto Europe are divided into various car categories, such as Economy, Compact, Midsize, Standard, Fullsize and Premium. Premium vehicles are those considered to be more elegant than usual rented cars, and include the Audi A6. Luxury vehicles such as the Mercedes E Class are also a good choice for business renters in need of a more stylish vehicle. The smaller cars at Auto Europe come with the best prices, and are quoted with a basic or all-inclusive price. The Ford Ka and Seat Ibiza are found in the Economy category, and have room for four passengers, however, they are not really recommended for families who require plenty of interior space and space for luggage. Compact cars are another popular choice from Auto Europe, and are similar to the Volkswagen Golf, Seat Leon and Seat Altea Wagon.

From Auto Europe, at Murcia Airport, there are also larger vans available, which are excellent for groups of travellers who want to rent just one vehicle for their transport. The Mercedes Viano seats seven passengers and the Mercedes Vito has space for nine people. The Volkswagen Touran is also a nice sized vehicle, for five, and comes with an automatic transmission.
